Pepe
Romero’s matchless technique has led him to become this century’s
greatest ambassador of classical guitar. He’ll perform Rodrigo’s
Concierto de Aranjuez, the most beloved guitar concerto of
all time. Yamandú Costa’s explosive solo set left him the talking point
of the 2010 Festival. He returns to perform his quintessentially
Brazilian orchestral suite with the Adelaide Art Orchestra, conducted by
Brett Kelly.

winning Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg returns from the stages of
Europe to join intrepid proponent of period instruments Geoffrey Morris.
They’ll take you on a fascinating journey through the
guitar’s early Spanish heritage, featuring some of the finest songs
every penned. The concert will begin with Guitarissimo, the next wave of
SA’s best classical guitarists.

2012 Competition winner returns home |

Winner
of the 2012 Adelaide International Guitar Competition, Andrey Lebedev
returns from London’s Royal Academy of Music for a special recital
performance. In the second half of the concert, the Sydney Guitar
Trio, joins forces with actor and musician Rory O’Donoghue in an
entertaining performance of storytelling and music.

One
of our finest musical exports, the Australian String Quartet performs
with distinguished international festival guests. Artistic Director
Slava Grigoryan, legendary Spanish guitarist Pepe Romero, Argentina’s

ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL

Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan today announces the full line up for this year’s Festival.
OPENING NIGHT NOT TO BE MISSED The Festival’s Opening Night will be a Spanish extravaganza, starring the José Antonio Rodríguez Trio, direct from flamenco heartland and opened by one of SA’s favorite flamenco companies, Flamenco Areti.

CLOSING NIGHT Come Sunday, 80 young guitarists will take the Festival Theatre stage for the debut of the Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra, as they open the concert for internationally acclaimed gypsy jazz superstars the Stochelo Rosenberg Trio.

HIT OF 2012 FESTIVAL GALA RETURNS One of our finest musical exports the Australian String Quartet will be joined on the Festival Theatre stage by three very special guests.
