STUDIO LOCATION: 2B, 391 Enmore Road, Marrickville NSW 2204 (across road from Enmore Park, closest cross street is Addison Rd)
Dominic was brought up in a musical family and as such,
can't remember a time when music wasn’t something to be played. In primary
school he learnt both clarinet and piano (Grade 3 AMEB). In junior high school
he continued with clarinet and also studied guitar and drums. He played drums
and percussion with the International Grammar School Orchestra, Stage Band,
Jazz Band and Rock Band.
He completed his high school education at A.I.M. High where he continued with drums and achieved Cert III Guitar.
He completed his high school education at A.I.M. High where he continued with drums and achieved Cert III Guitar.
He then continued his studies at the Australian Institute
of Music, completing his Bachelor degree in music performance, majoring in
drums. While at A.I.M, Dominic performed with the Australian Army Band for the
“AIM rocks the Army” concert series. He also performed with John Paul Young at
his graduation ceremony.
Dominic has performed live in professional venues since
the age of 15 with a variety of local acts in a variety of styles. He has
performed jazz and contemporary standards in trio/quartet format for corporate
functions and private parties and has performed in a number of tribute shows.
His main output for original music has been as drummer for the band Darker Half
for which he has recorded two critically acclaimed albums as well as hundreds
of live performances across all states of Australia including many as support
act for international artists.
In 2012 Dom played drums in the band of former Judas
Priest lead singer Tim “Ripper” Owens for his Australian and New Zealand tour.
He has since been chosen to be the drummer for the upcoming 2012 Australian and
New Zealand tour of former Iron Maiden lead singers Paul Dianno and Blaize
Bailey.
In addition to Darker Half recordings, Dominic has been
employed as session drummer on various recording sessions at Defwolf Studios in
Sydney. He also recently worked with producer Bob Scott, playing drums on
Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s recording of “The Reef”
project.
Dominic revels in the intricacies and techniques of
various forms of percussion. His grounding in melodic instruments, along with
his academic studies in performance and recording, gives him a deep
understanding of the role of drums in a broad range of musical genres.
