Sophie Spargo Piano- ALICE ST. NEWTOWN

STUDIO LOCATION: 2B, 391 Enmore Road, Marrickville NSW 2204 (across road from Enmore Park, closest cross street is Addison Rd)
EXPERIENCE: Has been teaching piano and composition both privately and in music schools since 2008, also working as a repetiteur and accompanist for various musical productions.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master of Music (Composition) at the University of Sydney

Sophie Spargo is a 26 year old composer currently studying Master of Music (Composition) at the University of Sydney. For Masters, Sophie has composed a ballet, a violin work for Associate Professor Ole Bohn and a new opera Somewhere Between the Sky and the Sea.

Composing and playing piano since the age of five, Sophie gained her AmusA in piano in 2009, and she experienced operatic success with the performance of two of her operas (composed at 14 and 19) “The White Cat,” and “Trilby,” at the Arts Centre, Melbourne.

In 2011, Sophie received a grant for a performance of her works at the Sydney Opera House, and this culminated in organising a Sydney Conservatorium composer concert with 15 composers and 88 instrumentalists on October 15th that year, with many of the works world premieres.
