Who needs $10,000 instruments when you can have an
orchestra of buckets? A concert band of metal canisters – a choir of broomstick
poles - an ensemble of pots and pans?
Rhythm… notes without pitch, tempo, beat…call it what
you want, but don’t listen to the warbling singers! Rhythm is the foundation of
any good band, orchestra or musical ensemble. It has the ability to measure
time, to inspire and to harness our natural instincts for pulse and musical
timing in everyday life.
Anna Napier will be rejuvenating garage junk to create
a workshop of loud noises and funky rhythms.
All welcome, no experience necessary, just a passion for beats and
working together.
“ We want every student
to take something away from the workshops; whether that be the beginning of a
passion for rhythm (and potentially ripper drumming skills), a few percussion
tricks to show off to your friends, or even just a fun couple of hours where
you connected with some fellow music lovers to create a unique rhythmic
composition!”
